Kill count
Kill count, or killcount (also referred to as KC), is a unique system in both Barrows and the God Wars Dungeon (referred to as essence).
Available counters in the game
[edit | edit source]There are several aspects of the game that have dedicated trackers for the amount of kills done on a given monster. These trackers are available in a variety of ways. Below are the different ways to access different counters in the game, which includes kill counts, agility course laps, chest openings, etc.
- The Adventure logs in the Achievement gallery of the Player-owned house can show several trackers. For more information, see Achievement gallery#Adventure log
- The Collection log interface also keeps track of several boss-specific counters, as well as tracking some counters for non-boss content
- The HiScores keep track of all boss kill counts, as well as some other statistics such as Zeal gained and Rifts closed
- All Boss monsters are tracked in the Ring of wealth's Boss log tracker
- All monsters with a Slayer level requirement are tracked in the Enchanted gem's Slayer log, which is also accessible through the (eternal) slayer ring
- The Slayer log also tracks the total number of Superior slayer monsters killed
- The (Comp) Ogre bow can be inspected to check the amount of Chompy and Jubbly bird kills, combined
- The Wanted! quest journal can be opened to check tally of Black Knights defeated after completing the quest, although this tally gets lowered when killing White Knights
- A Soldier stationed above the Lizardman Canyon can be asked for the kill counts of both Lizardmen and Lizardman shamans
- The Rewards Guardian can be checked to find a counter for the amount of searches that have been done and how many are still available
- Eyatlalli can be right-clicked to provide a scoreboard for the Moons of Peril
- Several chests have a right-click 'check' option to check the amount of times it has been opened:
- Some chests do keep track of the amount of times they were opened, but do not feature a check option:
- Several plaques or scoreboards located near repeatable activities or bosses keep track of statistics about the nearby activity.
- A Gravestone tracks the kill counts for both Tortured and Demonic gorillas
- The Spirit Angler stats show Tempoross statistics
- A Mural in the Lithkren Vault shows the kill counts for both Adamant and Rune dragons
- A mural tracks the Pyramid Plunder

- The Colosseum scoreboard tracks Glory and Fortis Colosseum statistics
- A Noticeboard tracks Hallowed Sepulchre statistics
- A Scoreboard tracks the Royal Titans statistics
- A Scoreboard provides statistics on The Hueycoatl
- An Ancient tablet tracks statistics for Amoxliatl
- Grace keeps track of all conventional Agility course lap counts, except for the Ape Atoll Agility Course.
- After completion of Monkey Madness II, Bobawu keeps track of the Ape Atoll Agility Course laps that have been completed after the quest.
- The Barbarian Funeral pyre will update players with a count after every set of Chewed bones cremated there
- The Woodcutting Guild's Shrine will provide the number of eggs offered there after every egg offered
- The (magic) butterfly net tracks the number of Implings caught both in the overworld and in Puro-Puro
Barrows
[edit | edit source]Killcount is also used in the Barrows crypts. This applies to the common creatures in the crypts, and killing them adds to the reward potential obtained from looting the chest, increasing the drop rate and quantity of items such as blood runes and other miscellaneous items.
Acquiring essence in God Wars Dungeon
[edit | edit source]In the God Wars Dungeon, kill count is referred as essence in-game. Here, players must have slain 40 followers of the god they follow in order to access the general's chambers. This can be decreased to 35, 30, 25, and 15 kills required with completion of the Hard, Elite, Master and Grandmaster task sets respectively. The player can also bypass the requirement in full with an Ecumenical key. If the player has sufficient essence, it takes higher priority than the key for being used.
The generals and their bodyguards are also counted as essence. Leaving the dungeon completely (apart from logging out inside the dungeon) will remove all essence the player had obtained.
The maximum essence players can acquire is 4000, after which the counter will state MAX until essence is once again spent or the player has left the dungeon.
Saradomin
[edit | edit source]
The weakest Saradominist followers that could be killed for essence are Knights of Saradomin. Saradomin priests, Saradominist Spiritual warriors, Spiritual rangers and Spiritual mages could also be killed for the purpose. Killing 40 of these grants access to Commander Zilyana and her bodyguards, Starlight, Growler and Bree.
Zamorak
[edit | edit source]
The weakest Zamorakian followers that could be killed for essence are imps. Bloodveld, vampyres, hellhounds, werewolves, pyrefiends, icefiends, goraks, Zamorakian Spiritual warriors, Spiritual rangers and Spiritual mages could also be killed for the purpose. Killing 40 of these grants access to K'ril Tsutsaroth and his bodyguards, Tstanon Karlak, Balfrug Kreeyath and Zakl'n Gritch.
Bandos
[edit | edit source]
The weakest Bandosian followers that could be killed for essence are goblins, specifically the level 12 variety. Ogres, jogres, hobgoblins, orks, cyclops, Bandosian Spiritual warriors, Spiritual rangers and Spiritual mages could also be killed for the purpose. Killing 40 of these grants access to General Graardor and his bodyguards, Sergeant Strongstack, Sergeant Steelwill and Sergeant Grimspike.
Armadyl
[edit | edit source]
The weakest Armadylean followers that could be killed for essence are Aviansie, specifically the level 73 or 79 variety. Armadylean Spiritual warriors, Spiritual rangers and Spiritual mages could also be killed for the purpose. Killing 40 of these grants access to Kree'arra and his bodyguards, Flight Kilisa, Wingman Skree and Flockleader Geerin.
Zaros
[edit | edit source]
Unlike the other factions, the essence amount obtained from those in the Ancient Prison varies depending on the monster killed:
- Spiritual warriors and spiritual rangers, as well as Nex's mages, provide two essence per kill.
- Blood Reavers provide three essence.
- Spiritual mages provide five essence.
- Nex provides five essence.
There is a chance that each kill the player gets in the Ancient Prison will provide an additional essence count upon death. This chance is based on the number of Zarosian items equipped, with each giving a 20% chance to gain an extra essence per kill.[1] If five Zarosian items are equipped, this will guarantee the additional essence count, and any excess afterwards will contribute towards a second roll for essence. Wearing all possible Zarosian items (of which there are 10 items, one for every slot) would mean that every spiritual mage killed would give seven essence.
Slayer
[edit | edit source]The Slayer ring, helm, or (eternal) gem keeps track of kills in Slayer. Using any of said items brings up a log recording every Slayer monster the player kills, but it maximises out at 65,535 kills.
