The Varrock Diary is an Achievement Diary whose tasks revolve around areas in and near Varrock, such as the Barbarian Village and Edgeville.

Several skill, quest, and item requirements are needed to complete all tasks. Unless stated otherwise, temporary skill boosts can be used to meet the skill requirements.

Rewards can be claimed from Toby in Varrock, just behind the Varrock General Store. Tasks may be done in any order, but the previous tiers of a diary must be completed to claim rewards of the next tier.

Easy

Task	Requirements
1. Browse Thessalia's store.	None
2. Have Aubury teleport you to the Essence mine. Note: You can right-click him to teleport.	Completion of Rune Mysteries
3. Mine some Iron in the south-east mining patch near Varrock.	15 Mining Any pickaxe
4. Make a normal plank at the Sawmill.	100 coins Logs, obtainable from a dying tree here with any axe for another easy task
5. Enter the second level of the Stronghold of Security.	Food recommended at low combat levels
6. Jump over the fence south of Varrock.	13 Agility
7. Chop down a dying tree in the Lumber Yard.	Any axe 100 coins recommended, to have the Sawmill operator turn the logs from the tree into a plank for another easy task
8. Buy a newspaper. Note: Can be bought from Benny in Varrock Square.	50 coins
9. Give a dog a bone! Note: This does not count when done during the investigation segment of Children of the Sun.	Bones
10. Spin a bowl on the pottery wheel and fire it in the oven in Barb Village.	8 Crafting Soft clay
11. Speak to Haig Halen after obtaining at least 50 Kudos.	See Kudos for all activities that grant them
12. Craft some Earth runes from Essence.	9 Runecraft Pure, daeyalt, or rune essence Access to the Earth Altar (earth talisman/tiara, elemental talisman/tiara, or the Abyss)
13. Catch some trout in the River Lum at Barbarian Village.	20 Fishing Fly fishing rod and some feathers

  • While worn, 10% chance of mining double clay, limestone, guardian fragments, tephra, and ores up to and including gold (experience granted for both minerals)
  • While worn, 10% chance of smelting 2 bars at once, up to steel, when using the Edgeville furnace (experience granted for both bars)
• Antique lamp worth 2,500 experience in any skill of at least level 30
• Zaff will sell you 15 noted battlestaves as a single stack every day for 105,000 coins, resellable on the Grand Exchange for a profit of 7,845 coins (after tax)
• The skull sceptre will now hold up to 14 charges, up from 10
• Individual parts used to make the skull sceptre now give an extra bone fragment per component when crushed

Medium

Task	Requirements
1. Have the Apothecary in Varrock make you a strength potion.	Limpwurt root, red spiders' eggs, and 5 coins
2. Enter the Champions' Guild.	32 Quest points
3. Select a colour for your kitten. Note: You can only have one kitten (or cat) following you at a time. If you already have one, you'll have to shoo it away, store it in a menagerie, or sell it for death runes to West Ardougne civilians. Storing it in your inventory or bank does not allow you to purchase a new one.	Completion of Gertrude's Cat and partial completion of Garden of Tranquillity 100 coins Wear an activated ring of charos
4. Use the spirit tree north of Varrock. Note: This tree is located in the north-eastern corner of the Grand Exchange.	Completion of Tree Gnome Village
5. Perform the 4 emotes from the Stronghold of Security.	Jagex Account or the older RuneScape Authenticator Food, protection prayers, and/or enough hitpoints to run through all four floors of the stronghold
6. Enter the Tolna dungeon after completing A Soul's Bane.	Completion of A Soul's Bane
7. Teleport to the digsite using a Digsite pendant.	Completion of The Dig Site Digsite pendant, or a mounted digsite pendant inside any player-owned house (see the House party worlds) Creating the digsite pendant for the first time requires 49 Magic, the clean necklace, and means to cast Lvl-3 Enchant ( 5 1 )
8. Cast the teleport to Varrock spell.	25 Magic Means to cast Varrock Teleport (3 1 1 )
9. Get a Slayer task from Vannaka.	40 Combat level
10. Make 20 Mahogany Planks in one go. Note: You can right-click the Sawmill operator to turn your logs into planks. You'll always need 20 mahogany logs, regardless of whether you're using sawmill vouchers.	20 mahogany logs and 30,000 coins
11. Pick a White tree fruit.	Completion of Garden of Tranquillity 25 Farming
12. Use the balloon to travel from Varrock. Note: The destination does not matter for this task. You can even pick a locked destination and not take the trip. • The ability to toggle the destination of Varrock Teleport from Varrock Square to the Grand Exchange
• The skull sceptre will now hold up to 18 charges, up from 14

Hard

Task	Requirements

2. Speak to Orlando Smith when you have achieved 153 Kudos.	See Kudos for all activities that grant them
3. Make a Waka canoe near Edgeville.	57 Woodcutting Any axe
4. Teleport to Paddewwa.	Completion of Desert Treasure I 54 Magic Ancient Magicks selected Means to cast Paddewwa Teleport (1 1 2 )
5. Teleport to Barbarian Village with a skull sceptre.	Skull sceptre, or the required items to create it
6. Chop some yew logs in Varrock and burn them at the top of the Varrock church. Note: There is a yew tree next to the church. Completing or updating any other task in-between these steps will reset the progress for this task. In Deadman Mode, the task is instead "Burn some Yew logs at the top of the Varrock church with 60 Woodcutting."	60 Woodcutting and 60 Firemaking Any axe and tinderbox
7. Have the Varrock estate agent decorate your house with Fancy Stone. Note: You must finish the dialogue or the task will not count as completed.	50 Construction [nb] 25,000 coins Additional 5,000 coins if already using Fancy Stone, to change to something else and back

  • Can be worn in place of a chef's hat to access the Cooks' Guild
  • While worn, 10% chance of mining double ores up to and including adamantite, as well as various other minerals (experience granted for both minerals)
  • While worn, 10% chance of smelting 2 bars at once, up to and including adamantite, when using the Edgeville furnace (experience granted for both bars)
• Antique lamp worth 15,000 experience in any skill of at least level 50
• Zaff will sell you 60 noted battlestaves as a single stack every day for 420,000 coins, resellable on the Grand Exchange for a profit of 31,380 coins (after tax)
• The skull sceptre will now hold up to 22 charges, up from 18
• Individual parts used to make the skull sceptre now give three extra bone fragments per component when crushed
• Access to the bank in the Cooks' Guild and a range at only 2 tiles away from it

Elite

Task	Requirements
1. Create a super combat potion in Varrock west bank.	Completion of Druidic Ritual 90 Herblore Super attack (4), super strength (4), super defence (4), and a torstol
2. Use Lunar magic to make 20 mahogany planks at the Lumberyard. Note: You must stand within the Lumber Yard, past the fence.	Completion of Dream Mentor 86 Magic Lunar spellbook selected 21,000 coins and 20 mahogany logs Means to cast Plank Make twenty times ( 300 40 20 )

  • Can be worn in place of a prospector jacket for clue steps, and provides the experience bonus of the full outfit
  • While worn, 10% chance of mining double of any ore, as well as various other minerals (experience granted for both minerals)
  • While worn, 10% chance of smelting 2 bars at once, of any kind, when using the Edgeville furnace (experience granted for both bars)
• Antique lamp worth 50,000 experience in any skill of at least level 70
• Zaff will sell you 120 noted battlestaves as a single stack every day for 840,000 coins, resellable on the Grand Exchange for a profit of 62,760 coins (after tax)
• The skull sceptre will now hold up to 26 charges, up from 22
• Individual parts used to make the skull sceptre now give four extra bone fragments per component when crushed

Changes

21 April 2016 (Update)	The Varrock diary task to purchase 20 mahogany planks from the Sawmill now ensures you have enough coins to pay for the planks.
7 April 2016 (Update)	The task to create 20 Mahogany planks at the sawmill will now complete consistently.
3 December 2015 (Update)	A typo in the Varrock diary interface for the spelling of 'Paddewwa' has been fixed. When purchasing battlestaves as part of the Varrock diary reward from Zaff's barrel, you will no longer be told your inventory is full when it already contains a stack of noted battlestaves.
8 October 2015 (Update)	Having Sedridor teleport you to the Essence mine now consistently completes the achievement diary task.
24 September 2015 (Update)	Additional ores gathered by Varrock armours now provide the bonus experience from the Prospector's outfit.
6 August 2015 (Update)	It is no longer possible to complete the Varrock Diary task, "Make 20 Mahogany Planks in one go" without having enough coins to pay the Sawmill Operator.
14 May 2015 (Update)	Performing the same Stronghold of Security emote 4 times no longer completes the task asking you to perform each of the 4 emotes.
30 April 2015 (Update | poll)	Players that have completed the Varrock medium achievement diary can now toggle their Varrock teleport to take them just south of the Grand Exchange.
