Attribute affinities

Attribute affinities are bonuses against enemies of a certain monster attribute, such as vampyres, golems, or rats. For the most part, attribute affinities are found on weapons, also known as bane weapons. They can also be found on other equipment such as the salve amulet, spells such as crumble undead, and special effects such as that of pearl bolts (e).
The benefits can extend beyond raw stats of the items, often granting percentage-based boosts to both damage and accuracy when fighting enemies of their chosen attribute. Some weapons also have multiple attribute affinities. For example, silverlight acts as a demonbane weapon, but also as a silver weapon that is effective against low-tier vampyres.
The damage and accuracy bonuses almost always stack with other bonuses, usually multiplicatively but sometimes additively. The salve amulets do not stack with with the slayer helmet variants, being a notable exception.
Attribute affinities are not related to elemental weaknesses, and the two mechanics act independently of each other.
Affinities
editDragonbane
editDraconic is an attribute that confers a vulnerability to dragonbane weapons. The weapons' affinity for the draconic attribute provides increased damage and accuracy when fighting monsters with this attribute. Most dragonkin are included in this vulnerability. This includes standard dragons such as the chromatic dragons and metallic dragons, but also more unique and varied dragonkin such as draconic creatures, Hydra, Galvek, Vorkath, etc. Not included in the dragonbane affinity are revenant dragons and Elvarg. The revenant dragon, lacking dragonfire, is considered a revenant, or undead creature. Elvarg, a quest monster, was also not included, as a genetically modified green dragon in the lore.
Expand the above table to see the list of monsters that are weak to dragonbane weapons. Complete monster information, including location and elemental weakness, can also be found on the draconic attribute page.
Weapons
edit| Style | Weapon | Damage increase | Accuracy increase | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 20% | 20% | Stab weapon. Many dragons are weak to stab attacks. | ||
| 25% | 30% | While not recommended, the crossbow can fire pearl dragon bolts (e) which has an affinity for enemies with the fiery attribute. The bolts special attack deals increased damage, meaning the player gains increased damage to two enemy attributes at once. Despite this, the diamond dragon bolts (e) are more powerful to use against stronger dragons, and broad bolts more cost effective against weaker dragons. | ||
| 40% | 75% | Additional 10% magic damage increase against all monsters |
Demonbane
editDemonbane is an affinity for the demonic attribute, which provides buffed damage and accuracy to demonic monsters. Revenant demons are not included in this effect.
Examples include:
Expand the above table to see the list of monsters that are weak to demonbane weapons. Complete monster information, including location and elemental weakness, can also be found on the demonic attribute page.
It is possible for demonic enemies to have some resistences to demonbane. For example, although Duke sucellus is considered demonic and takes increased damage from demonbane weapons, he also has 30% demonbane resistance. This means an emberlight would have 49% increased damage and accuracy against him, rather than the usual 70%.
It is also possible for demonic creatures to take more damage from demonbane. Yama is an example of this; demonbane weapons have increased damage and accuracy against the boss. Emberlight, for example, deals 84% increased damage instead of 70% increased damage.
Weapons

| 60% | 0% | 5-tick weapon. Increases max hit by 60% but does not give a percentage accuracy increase. | ||
| 60% | 0% | 5-tick weapon. Increases max hit by 60% but does not give a percentage accuracy increase. Marginally better stats than Silverlight.
Has a special attack that has unique effects against demons. | ||
| 70% | 70% | 4-tick weapon. Requires charges. Charged with ancient shards, 333 charges per one. If it uses 10,000 charges, or 10,000 are added, it becomes infused and no longer consumes charges. Requires 30 ancient shards to fully charge. A significant upgrade on the Darklight and Silverlight.
Has a special attack that has unique effects against demons: Weaken—Reduces the enemies stats, with increased effect against demons. | ||
| 70% | 70% | 4-tick weapon. Does not use charges, however it requires a fully charged (or infused) Arclight to make.
Has a special attack that has unique effects against demons: Weaken—Reduces the enemies stats, with increased effect against demons. Reduces the stats of demons significantly more than Arclight's special attack. | ||
| 5% | 5% | 4 tick weapon. High damage special attack. Useful and powerful against most monsters. | ||
| 30% | 30% | 4-tick weapon (rapid). Extremely powerful in general against all monsters. Although the percentage damage and accuracy increase is lower, the scorching bow has a +40 ranged strength bonus and a +124 ranged attack bonus. Because of this, it is a formidable weapon against all enemies that is uniquely effective against demons. Has a special attack that has unique effects against demons. | ||
| 0% | 0% | 5-tick cast speed. Can autocast the Arceuus spellbook. While it doesn't give a percentage increase to damage and accuracy against demons, it does have increased damage when used correctly.

| Style | Weapon | Damage increase | Accuracy increase | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0% | 0% | Single-use vial from Shilo Village, used in the Legends quest. The stackable thrown weapon can only damage to demons and is used to kill Nezikchened. It gaints a max hit increase of 60% when fighting against demons, with an extra 5 flat damage against Nezikchened. Ranged potions and prayer do not increase the damage. |

Rat bone
editRat bone weapons, known colloquially as "ratbane" weapons, are a class of weapons that have an affinity for monsters with the rat attribute. They are primarily used for killing Scurrius, but also brine rats, giant rats, zombie rats and other rats. Rat bone weapons are not effective against most monsters, and can only deal damage to rats. Each weapon is made from scurrius' spine, dropped by Scurrius. Instead of increasing damage as a percentage, the weapons increase players max hit by a flat amount.
The weapons grant increased effectiveness against most rat enemies, see the monster's attribute page for a full list.
Despite appearing rat-like, some monsters are unaffected by rat bone weapons: Examples include the angry giant rats, Experiment No.2 and Mouse.

The weapons are excellent options for lower leveled players to train with. Having the three weapons covers all three combat styles, and all three hit hard for level at which they are used. This is due to their +10 to the player's max hit. Additionally, the lack of a delay between attacks against the minions and the guaranteed hits increase experience per hour further. Players are therefore recommended to tackle Scurrius using rat bone weapons, once they are earned.
Undead
editUndead are creatures that have died but continue to exist, often revived through necromancy or created entirely through magic. This category includes reanimated corpses, ghosts, spirits, and other spectral beings. Most undead are affected by the damage and accuracy boosts of the salve amulet and its variants, as well as the Crumble Undead spell. These creatures are typically found in Morytania, the Wilderness, graveyards, and various dungeons.
Unlike traditional undead, Vampyres are not considered part of this category.
Some creatures that appear ghostly do not have the undead attribute. Examples include the Barrows brothers, various wight types, Phantom Muspah, Ba-Ba, certain quest bosses like Nazastarool and Treus Dayth, skeletal wyverns, barbarian spirits in the Ancient Cavern, ghasts, reanimated creatures from ensouled heads, and other spectral entities.
For a full list of monsters, view the attribute page.

| Crumble Undead | Level 39 Magic spell; max hit 15 | Can only be cast on undead monsters. Costs 1 Chaos rune, 2 Air runes, and 2 Earth runes. |
The Crumble Undead spell can only be autocast using certain weapons, including the Skull Sceptre (i), Slayer’s Staff, Slayer’s Staff (e), Staff of the Dead, Toxic Staff of the Dead, Staff of Light, Staff of Balance, or Void Knight Mace. This spell isoften used as a secondary attack against Vorkath, as it can instantly eliminate the zombified spawn he summons; the salve amulet variants are also useful against this boss as the dragon itself is undead.
Vampyres
editThe ability to harm vampyres depends on the tier of Enemy. Tier 1 vampyres, for example, may be harmed by any weapon. That being said, certain vampyres such as the Vampyre Juveniles may only be fully defeated by use of the Retainer special attack followed by a dose of Guthix balance. Silver weaponry has a 10% damage bonus against vampyres of this tier, as do regular weapons while Efaritay's aid is worn.
Silver weaponry is required to kill tier 2 vampyres. Efaritay's aid can be used to increase accuracy with silver weapons by 15%, or can alternatively be used to hit up to half your normal damage with a non-silver weapon.
Tier 1 and 2
editMost silver weapons boosts behave in a similar fashion. See the list of silver weapons for more information. Some examples are:
| Style | Weapon | Damage increase (Tier 1) | Damage increase (Tier 2) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10% | 0% | Increased damage to tier 1 vampyres. Can damage tier 2 vampyres. Cannot damage tier 3 vampyres. +15% accuracy with Efarity's aid. | ||

Tier 3
editTier 3 vampyres, such as Vyrewatch are immune to all weaponry except for the Ivandis flail, Blisterwood sickle, or Blisterwood flail. Efaritay's aid cannot be used to damage tier 3 vampyres, although its +15% accuracy bonus to silver weaponry is still applied.

Golembane
editGolembane is an affinity for golem monsters. It includes weapons with added effects, damage, and accuracy. There are two golembane weapons currently available to players.
Weapons

Leafy enemies
editLeafy enemies can be damaged only by leaf-bladed weaponry, broad-tipped ammunition and Magic dart. This attribute includes all variants of Kurask and Turoth.
Note that damage from other weapons against this attribute is still calculated for the purposes of special attack effects, even though it causes no damage. For example, a player may still use the special attacks of the Toxic blowpipe and Saradomin godsword normally to gain health and prayer restoration, despite the lack of damage.
Leaf-bladed weapons, broad ammunition, and magic dart can all be used against other enemies, but other weapons can't be used for leafy enemies.

Ammunition
editTo kill leafy enemies with ranged, the player can use a suitable bow or crossbow along with broad arrows or bolts. They do not have an percentage damage or accuracy boost, but are able to hit leafy enemies (unlike other ammunition). All broad ammunition can be used against non-leafy enemies, and the bolts are often used as decent, cheap ammunition for players on a budget.

Spells
editFor magic, the player can use the
Magic Dart spell. The spell requires 50 Magic and 55 Slayer to cast, and is able to damage leafy enemies. It can also used on other enemies, and is a good alternative to the trident for players without 75 magic, or for Ironmen. Magic Dart is the only spell that can damage leafy enemies.
A small selection of staves can be used to autocast the spell, including the slayer staff. It costs 197 coins per cast, making it relatively inexpensive for its power. If assigned a slayer task, Magic Dart can be cast with the Slayer's staff (e) by utilising the Slayer's enchantment, which is incredibly cheap per charge—it adds an extra cost of less than 1 coins per cast, making it 198 coins per cast in total. It also increases the damage dealt significantly. It's therefore recommended to always use the enchanted Slayer's staff if using Magic Dart against monsters on a slayer task.
Keris
editThe keris is a distinctive dagger that deals additional damage to kalphites and certain desert monsters, including scarabs. It is obtained at the end of the Contact! quest by defeating the Giant scarab, and can be replaced by speaking to Osman. This dagger, as well as the keris partisan and its variants, all have an affinity for the kalphite attribute.
The original and most accessible Keris has stats listed below:
| Weapon | Notes | ||||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| +40 | +20 | -10 | +2 | +0 | +30 | +2 | 4-tick attack speed. Has a 1/51 chance of puncturing a hole in their exoskeleton, dealing triple damage. • 33% bonus damage against all kalphites and scabarites. • Has a 1/51 (1.96%) chance of dealing triple damage. |
Partisans
editThe keris partisan is a reward from beneath cursed sands. It is a longer, spear-like version of the dagger, and retains similar effects but can be adjusted or upgraded further via the untradeable jewels found in the Tombs of Amascut. These gems improve its combat effectiveness in various manners. Some may only be used inside the raid, and others have reduced effectiveness when used outside of the raid.

Boss specific
editThere are weapons that can damage specific bosses, or have an affinity for an attribute that is only found when fighting a boss or raid.
Corpbane
editWhile many corpbane weapons are spears, spears aren't always corpbane; some spears are not effective against the Corporeal Beast. An example of this is that the Zamorakian hasta, a weapon that is classed as a spear, deals reduced damage against the Corporeal Beast.
The Corporeal Beast reduces all melee and ranged damage by 50% unless it's a corpbane weapon. These weapons must also be on the stab attack style. This damage reduction does not apply to magic, recoil damage (such as vengeance or rings of recoil), retribution or the special effect of enchanted ruby bolts.
There is also currently a bug that causes damage from attacks from the dwarf multicannon to be reduced by 50% twice.
While some weapons, mithril and below, deal full damage to the Corporeal Beast, they have not been included in this table for the sake of clarity.
Araxytes
editThe Noxious halberd will always deal the player's max hit when hitting the acidic, mirrorback, and ruptura araxytes that hatch during the fight with Araxxor.
Tombs of Amascut
editTumeken's shadow has a unique passive effect that only applies when casting its built-in spell. It multiplies the player's magic attack bonus (used in accuracy calculations) and magic damage from worn equipment by 3×. When inside Tombs of Amascut, this is increased to 4× inside the Tombs of Amascut, increasing damage considerably. This bonus is capped at 100% magic damage, though reaching the cap is currently only possible inside the raid. Negative bonuses are also multiplied.
As mentioned in an earlier section, the keris partisans also have increased bonuses in the raid.
Xerician
editThe Twisted bow does increased damage to monsters in the Chambers of Xeric. The damage is based on enemy magic level, which is used in a formula to calculate damage.
For example, if the Twisted bow would hit a maximum of 73 against a 350 magic level enemy, the player could instead hit an 84 in Chambers of Xeric with the same setup.
Unique examples
editThere are a few more unique examples of weapons or ammunition with effects targetting monster attributes, or monsters in specific areas.
Flying enemies
editFlying enemies, such as the Aviansies, cannot be damaged by weapons that have a low attack range. This primarily includes melee weapons, however halberds are able to reach them.
Wolfbane
editWolfbane could be considered both an affinity and a weapon. The Wolfbane dagger is given as a quest item reward in Priest in Peril. It is obtained from Drezel after completion of the quest.
When attacking the citizens of Canifis, it prevents them from transforming into werewolves. It has the same bonuses as a mithril dagger except it also gives a prayer bonus.
Fiery
editFiery enemies are an attribute assigned to enemies that utilise fire (including players wearing a fire staff). The pearl bolts (e) special effect, sea curse, brings down a waterfall on top of the opponents head, dealing additional damage based on the player's current ranged level.
Underwater
editUnderwater enemies, such as Lobstrosities can only be damaged with weapons that can be equipped underwater. These include the brine sabre, dragon harpoon, merfolk trident, trident of the seas/trident of the swamp, and magic secateurs.
Special attacks
editSome weapons have special attacks that have unique effects when used against enemies of a specific attribute.
For example, scorching bow's special attack can only be used against demonic creatures; Scorching shackles increases accuracy by 30%, binding demons for 20 ticks (12 seconds) and dealing 1 burn damage in the process. It deals an additional 1 burn damage every 4 ticks (2.4 seconds), for a total of 5 burn damage.
Purging staff, another demonbane weapon, also has a unique special attack that targets demons. Scatter Ashes, if used against a demon, fully refunds special attack energy and attacks 3 ticks sooner for the next attack if it kills the target. This allows the player to rapidly kill enemy demons, providing the special attack is timed perfectly to kill the enemy. Paired with a Lightbearer and surge potions, the special attack can be used very often making it a great example of a special attack that targets an enemies attributes.
The Dawnbringer, a temporary weapon obtained during the Theatre of Blood has a special attack: Pulsate. It deals 75–150 damage to Verzik Vitur at the cost of 35% special attack energy. Since this attack is crucial for quickly depleting her health before all pillars collapse, players must drop the staff for teammates to continue using the special after their energy is spent. This makes it an example of a special attack that is unique for a specific boss.
Trivia
edit- During the the goblin invasion event, cursed goblin weapons dealt additional damage to the goblins that invaded. However these enemies are no longer in the game, nor do the weapons universally deal increase damage to goblins.
