Transportation

Transportation includes all of the varied means of getting around the world of Old School RuneScape.
Efficient transportation
[edit | edit source]To get around in an efficient manner, you should consider the following things:
- Train your Agility for faster restoration of run energy.
- Use weight-reducing gear to run for longer periods.
- Train your Magic level to unlock teleport spells, or purchase teleport tablets instead.
- Complete quests to gain access to transportation methods such as spirit trees, fairy rings, gnome gliders and certain spells.
- By training up your Construction you can add various transportation methods to your house such as jewellery boxes, portals with teleports from all spellbooks, and mounted amulets. Your house can eventually serve as a hub for transportation around the map which you can access using only house teleports.
- If you do not have all of the useful transportation options in your house, consider joining world 330 if your house is in Rimmington, to use the facilities of houses of high level hosts if available. Join their house using the House Advertisement facility, and use their installed teleportation methods. If the hosts have maxed out houses, they often also have rejuvenation pools, restoring your run energy. Especially for low-level players, this method opens up an extreme range of teleportation options for the price of just one house teleport.
- To reach useful locations like banks, skilling resources and facilities or other transport network nodes, familiarize yourself with the closest transportation destinations to various useful features.
Foot travel
[edit | edit source]Walking or running is the basic method of travel. The amount of weight carried determines how long a player can run, while their Agility level impacts their run energy restoration rate. The more weight you carry, the shorter distance you can run. Additionally, pressing the Control key and clicking on a part of the map temporarily turns on run.
- Agility shortcuts and obstacles: By taking shortcuts, a player is able to reach a destination faster. The higher the Agility level, the more shortcuts are available. There are also obstacles, which are similar to shortcuts, but have one major difference: using these agility obstacles is the only way to get to that certain area.
Teleportation
[edit | edit source]
Teleportation is the instant travel from any location to a specific location elsewhere. This can take a number of different forms.

Player-owned house teleports
[edit | edit source]Besides the portal nexus and portal chambers, which are covered elsewhere, other teleports can also be built in player-owned houses. With 47 Construction, mounted amulets of glory can be built in the guild trophy space of the quest hall. At 72 Construction, a mounted xeric's talisman can be built in the amulet space of the portal nexus room. At 47 construction, both the mythical cape and the cape of legends, each retaining its teleportation functions, can be built in the guild trophy space of the quest hall in a player-owned house. At 82 Construction, a curator's medallion can be mounted in a player-owned house portal nexus room, creating a mounted digsite pendant. At 80 Construction, players can build a cape hanger in the display space of the achievement gallery in a player-owned house; mythical capes and capes of accomplishment, including max variants, can have their teleportation functions used by the owner of the house but not by visitors.
Teleport traps can be built in the dungeon of a player-owned house with 88 Construction. Players who fail to dodge the teleport trap will be teleported to the oubliette; if the dungeon does not contain an oubliette, players will be teleported to a random tile within the dungeon. If the dungeon contains multiple oubliettes, then players who fail to dodge the trap will be sent to the most expensive oubliette in the dungeon (or the one which was built last if multiple oubliettes are of equal value). Players who succeed in dodging the teleport trap will gain 20 Agility experience points, and jump to either side of the trap.
Three different levels of jewellery boxes can be built in the jewellery box space of the achievement gallery. The jewellery box can store various teleportation jewellery. Each box will provide unlimited teleports to locations provided by the enchanted jewellery. Jewellery boxes are constructed in upgrades: before a higher level box can be built, the player must first build the one before it. Bank notes are NOT accepted, each item must be brought.

Transportation systems
[edit | edit source]Transportation systems let you move between each of their locations freely, as long as you reach one of their locations. There are some exceptions (Canoe to the Wilderness pond for example) and they are all noted down below.
Fairy rings
[edit | edit source]
After getting permission from the Fairy Godfather during Fairytale II - Cure a Queen, you will find a new network of transportation available to you: fairy rings.
It consists of over 52 fairy rings spread across the land and provides a relatively fast means for accessing often remote locations. Players can enter the fairy ring system from any node while wielding either a dramen staff or a lunar staff, ending up at the master fairy ring in Zanaris. From there, using three letter codes, they can teleport to most rings within the system. Several rings, however, require players to complete quests before they can be accessed. If the selected code has no corresponding fairy ring, players will be teleported a few squares from the main ring.
The main fairy ring is located in Zanaris, just east of the bank. When you click on it to activate it, you will notice the three mushroom controllers pop up. Each controller has four letters assigned to it. Clicking on the right or left side of a mushroom controller will make it turn clockwise or counter-clockwise, respectively. You can make many combinations from these mushrooms, and click the teleport button to go the location.
Players who have completed the Elite Lumbridge & Draynor Diary will no longer need a dramen or lunar staff to use a fairy ring.
Players can grow a fairy ring in their player-owned house at 85 Construction, which can be boosted, using a watering can with at least one dose of water, a fairy enchantment, and 10 unnoted mushrooms. At 95 Construction and 83 Farming, each of which can also be boosted, players can grow the Spirit tree & fairy ring in their player-owned house, which combines both fairy rings and spirit trees.
Obelisks
[edit | edit source]
Wilderness Obelisks are teleportation devices in the Wilderness. There are six Wilderness obelisks available, and a player can also set up an obelisk inside their own Player-owned House, however they can not teleport out of the Wilderness to it. Each obelisk, when activated, will teleport anyone standing on the pad after a few seconds to another pad, which is chosen at random unless they have the hard Wilderness Diary completed, which allows them to choose their arrival point.
The six destinations are:
- West of the Chaos Temple
- East of the Graveyard of Shadows
- South of the Wilderness God Wars Dungeon entrance
- South of the Lava Maze
- West of the Lava Maze
- Near the Rogues' Castle and the Chaos Elemental
Spirit trees
[edit | edit source]
After completion of the Tree Gnome Village quest, you can use spirit trees to teleport. There are seven different spirit tree locations already present throughout the world, some of which may require the completion of additional quests to access, plus six locations at which a player with a sufficient Farming level may plant additional spirit trees.
They are:
- North-east of Grand Exchange.
- Battlefield, north-west of the Clock Tower.
- Centre of Tree Gnome Village.
- Tree Gnome Stronghold, west of the entrance to the Agility course. Requires The Grand Tree to leave from.
- Prifddinas, in the Meilyr district. Requires Song of the Elves to arrive at.
- East of the Poison Waste. Requires The Path of Glouphrie to arrive at.
- Next to the Myths' Guild in the south-west corner of the Feldip Hills.
- (Player grown: Etceteria)
- (Player grown: Brimhaven)
- (Player grown: Port Sarim)
- (Player grown: Hosidius)
- (Player grown: Inside the advanced tier of the Farming Guild.)
- (Player grown: In the Superior garden of a player-owned house)
With a Farming level of 83 and a spirit sapling, players are able to grow their own spirit tree in any of five spirit tree patches. These have the same restrictions as the other normal ones. At level 83, players may only have one player-grown spirit tree; this limit is increased to two spirit trees at level 88, three spirit trees at level 93, four spirit trees at level 96, and no limit at level 99. This limit does not apply to the player-owned house spirit tree, which has an additional requirement of 75 Construction to create and grows instantly unlike other spirit trees. At 95 Construction, players may also build a spirit tree & fairy ring, which allows access to both transportation networks at once.

[edit | edit source]The Lovakengj Minecart Network is a rapid transit system serving twelve destinations across Kourend and Kebos.
